Who we are

Hello, my name is Nicola Vahsen and I am one of the founders of Light for Nepal and the chairperson of Bahini as well as the vice-chairperson of Bahini France. I am currently working for a consulting company in Munich, where I live together with my boyfriend. It is my dream that all 28 children of Light for Nepal will be able to finish high school and to successfully complete an apprenticeship or a university degree.

Hello, my name is Gero Peters and I am one of the founders of LFN.I am the vice-chairman of Bahini Germany and the chairman of Bahini France. I am currently working in business development for a software company in southern France. After five years in Paris, my wife and I now live in Lyon. We travel regularly to Nepal and try to provide the children with a future where they will be independent and able to care for themselves.

Hello and thank you very much for your interest in our project. My name is Marco Thömmes and I support Bahini since 2009. At the moment I am the secretary of Bahini. Additional I am involved in the search and choosing of the volunteers for the field work in Nepal. Together with my partner I live in Ingolstadt. I work as an engineer at the technical development of a automobile manufacturer. My aim is to support and motivate our 28 children and teenager in Nepal to become self-responsibility adults. My wish is that after their education because of Bahini they are able to form their future and the future of Nepal independently and positive.

Hi, I am Sophie Robert. I started at Bahini as a volunteer in 2004. This period was one of the most fulfilling moments of my life. Since then I have been active in Bahini. I helped founding Bahini France of which I am the Vice President, and I am also in charge of the volunteer program. I live in Paris, where I work in the electric energy industry. My whish is to help Light For Nepal children become self supporting adults, successful in their projects and dreams.

Hi, my name is Daniel van Wickeren. I am a consulting engineer and live with my girlfriend in Paris. I have recently joined "Bahini" and participate in the project by voluntarily holding the position of the treasurer for "Bahini France". I hope that my contribution to the project helps to give the children the opportunity of a self-determined future.

Hello, my name is Fatima Karim. I am the General Secretary of Bahini France and the contact person for PenPal activities within Bahini. I am currently working in Paris as senior expert of mobile access networks. I love the children of Light for Nepal and try to help understanding and solving their problems based on my knowledge of typical difficulties and opportunities of a developing country such as my home country Morocco.

My name is Daniel Axenfeld and I joined Bahini in fall 2007. My job is to collect the news concerning the Light For Nepal Project and putting them together in a regular newsletter. I am a maths and physics teacher in Ravensburg, which is a small city located near the Lake of Constance in southern Germany. After I had finished university I did an eight month volunteering at Light For Nepal in 2005/2006 and visited again in summer 2007, meeting Gero there, and decided to help with the newsletters – as PR is a very important factor to get the necessary support for the children in LFN.

Hello, my name is Christian Rodewald and I am supporting Bahini in different areas. I have already met the wonderful children of Light for Nepal and knowing them really motivates me to help wherever I can. Having degrees in Business and International Relations, I am now working for a consultancy and live together with Nicola in Munich. It is my goal to help the children turn into self-confident and well-educated adults.
