How do we control the correct usage of the donations in Nepal?
The donations from Europe are regularly transferred to the account of the children's home in Nepal. The home manager Deepak is responsible for the correct usage of the money. He also reports to the local committee of the Nepalese organization Light for Nepal. Deepak sends monthly financial reports to Bahini. The international volunteers also help in controlling the correct usage of the donations.

What percentage of the donations is used for the sake of the children?
All administrative costs of Bahini (letters, homepage, trips to Nepal, phone calls) are covered by the members of Bahini and their families. Therefore, 100% of all donations go directly to Nepal for the support of the children's home.

Are all children orphans?
Only a few of the children at Light for Nepal are orphans. Many of them have lost one parent. In Nepal, widows remarry quite often, and, unfortunately, the new partner often rejects the children from the first marriage. Many families from remote villages send their children to the capital Kathmandu hoping to offer them a better life. In many villages, there are no schools, and even if there were, many parents cannot afford to send their children to school. They do not want the children to work on the fields like them.

How were the children of the children's home chosen?
Excepts for a few exceptions, Light for Nepal exclusively takes care of the children of the home that was closed down by Nicola and Gero.

How many people are taking care of the children at the home?
The Light for Nepal team consists of five staff members: The home manager lives at the children's home together with his family and is responsible for the children and the everyday routine. An assistant helps the children with their homework and takes them to a doctor if necessary. Two cooks are responsible for the food, the hygiene, and the laundry. One guard keeps the home safe night and day. In addition, the volunteers play in important role in caring for the children.

What happens to the children after they finish school?
After the children finish high school, Light for Nepal will continue to take care of them. Since we see the home in the role of the parents, the children will be supported until they can care for themselves. This will include to cover the fees for an apprenticeship or a university degree as well as costs for weddings.
